Instructor (Bernard Ong)

Mr. Bernard Ong has been a member of The Singapore Kennel Club since 1997, and has successfully finished several Champions of different breeds under the club, including the Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Shih Tzu and Siberian Husky. Currently, he is actively involved with the Miniature Schnauzer, Toy Poodle, and Bichon Frise.

His famous Maltese,  Gr. CH and JKC CH.Lovely's Wing Jelly Bean, won several Best In Show awards and Reserve Best In Show awards for two consecutive years. As the top Toy Dog back then, Gr. CH and JKC CH.Lovely's Wing Jelly Bean also clinched the Dog of the Year award in 2001.

Bernard holds the prestigious ‘A’ class Grooming and Handling licence issued by the Kennel Club of Taiwan. In 2014, the club also awarded him the title of Handling Champion. More recently, he also won a Grooming Competition held by the Japan Kennel Club, which has the distinction of having the longest grooming history in Asia.

Many local and international outstanding groomers have been tutored by Bernard, and his local grooming school is the only school to have won the Overall Outstanding Groomer Award for four times.

In 2010, Bernard was accepted into the Singapore Kennel Club’s Judges Training Scheme. A few years later, he obtained his Grooming Judging Licence and now serves the club as the Grooming Chairman and Director.

Bernard is a current Conformation Judge licensed to judge F.C.I. Groups 2, 5 and 9 under the Singapore Kennel Club. To date, Bernard has been invited to judge in Australia, Malaysia and his native country Singapore (Utility Specialty and French Bulldog Specialty).
